Thailand from Above – Chanthaburi

Chanthaburi is a province of Thailand. It is in the east of Thailand, on the border with Battambang and Pailin of Cambodia, on the shore of the Gulf of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are Trat in the east and Rayong, Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Sa Kaeo to the west and north.

Chanthaburi

Phlio Waterfall is located in Laem Sing District, Chanthaburi Province. This waterfall is an important inscription of Thai history because it was the waterfall that King Rama V had visited 12 times. The area on the waterfall is quite large and has 2 beautiful streams flowing together in a clear pond. The pool is also full of many different types of fish, especially Soro Brook Carp which is the main highlighted fish here. The tourist can buy lentils and feed them while playing in the water.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is an important historic site in Chanthaburi with a religious history of over 300 years and is considered one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Thailand. The church was under major reconstruction and renovated both the exterior and interior architecture in 2009. The statue Queen Mary of the Immaculate Conception has also been completely renovated, designed and decorated with more than 20,000 carats of gemstones by the craftsmen from the Fine Arts Department.

Khaem Nu Estuary is located at Takad Ngao subdistrict, Tha Mai district. The interesting landmark here is Pak Nam Khaem Nu Bridge which the tourist can admire the view of the sea and the fishing lifestyle of the local villagers from the middle of the bridge. When the sun goes down in the evening, there are both small and large boats sailing out for fishing at the mouth of the river. There are also beautiful attractions nearby such as Chao Lao Beach, Laem Sadet, and Khung Wiman.
